As expected, the Denis Villeneuve-helmed sequel brought movie fans back to theaters in droves, crushing expectations and stoking hopes for more visits to Frank Herbert's iconic desert planet.

On Monday, estimates from Comscore had the domestic tally for “Dune: Part Two” at $81.5 million. Warner Bros., meanwhile, estimated the international take at $97 million, for a global haul of $178.5 million in the film’s first three days.
For context, the first “Dune” film in 2021 opened to $41 millon in October 2021.
